A DAY after his son Akash Ambani was appointed as the chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, suggesting an unfolding succession plan in one of India’s frontline business families, Isha Ambani was set to be named as the chairman of the Reliance conglomerate’s retail unit.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the announcement about Isha’s elevation was expected on Wednesday (29), according to informed sources who chose to speak on the condition of anonymity ahead of a formal revelation.

Isha, who is a twin sister of Akash, is currently the director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited.

A representative of the Reliance group refused to comment on the issue, Bloomberg added.
Isha, 30, is an alumnus of Yale University, the US. The twins have a younger brother Anant.
Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio are subsidiaries of the Reliance conglomerate of which the $217 billion Reliance Industries Ltd is the flagship firm. Mukesh, 65, is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries.
