Bringing fuel under GST will take more time, says revenue secretary Tarun Bajaj: Indian revenue secretary Tarun Bajaj on Monday said while addressing a conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) that bringing fuel under the same will take more time. He also said that merging other rates while continuing with the 28 per cent rate of the GST is a challenge.
India bars hotels, restaurants from raising service charge: India’s Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on Monday barred hotels and restaurants from levying service charge automatically or by default in food bills and allowed customers to file complaints in case of violation. Amid rising complaints, the CCPA has issued guidelines for preventing unfair trade practices and violation of consumer rights with regard to levying of service charge.
Akasa Air carries out first proving flight: Akasa Air, which is backed by investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, carried out its first set of proving flight operations on Monday, sources Indian civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation told the Hindu BusinessLine.
Lexus India announces exclusive partnership with Bangalore International Airport: Luxury car manufacturer Lexus India and Bangalore International Airport Ltd, which operates the Kempegowda International Airport, have announced an exclusive partnership for the movement of guests at the VIP terminal, Asian News International/PRNewswire reported. All guests at BLR Airport’s VIP terminal will now be chauffeured between the aircraft and the terminal in luxurious Lexus cars. Lexus India is providing the vehicles as part of the airport’s fleet for VIP movement.
Tata Power signs MoU with Tamil Nadu to set up solar plant worth £313 million: Indian electricity-generation company Tata Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu to invest approximately Rs 3,000 crore (£313 million) for setting up a greenfield 4 gigawatts solar cell and 4 gigawatts solar module manufacturing, Asian News International Reported.
India takes steps to address high oil price challenge: The Indian government has taken a number of steps to address the challenges arising out of the rise in crude oil prices in international markets, the country’s finance ministry sources said on Monday, Asian News International reported. Nearly 85 per cent of India’s petroleum product demands are met through imports. Crude oil prices have surged since the beginning of this year largely due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
India, Australia agree to strengthen clean energy pact: Australia and India on Monday agreed to strengthen their co-operation in developing critical metal projects and supply chains, Australia’s resources minister said, Reuters reported. Minister Madeleine King said Australia would commit A$5.8 million ($3.98 million) towards a three-year investment partnership, while signing an agreement between critical minerals firm Khanij Bidesh India Ltd and the Critical Minerals Facilitation Office of Australia.
Serum Institute asks Indian health ministry to include Cy-Tb injection in tuberculosis (TB) elimination programme: The Serum Institute, Pune, has requested India’s health ministry for inclusion of their Cy-Tb injection for detection of Latent-TB in the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) to support TB free-India by 2025, official sources said on Monday. The Serum Institute had recently informed the ministry that the firm would provide Cy-Tb injection at Rs 350 plus GST per dose, an official source stated, Press Trust of India reported.
