India’s marathon 5G spectrum auction to enter Day 4 on July 29: Bids worth £15.4b received till now

THE auction of 5G spectrum for telephony services will stretch to the fourth day on Friday (29) after 16 rounds of bidding fetched bids worth Rs 1,49,623 crore (£15.48 billion).

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the country’s communications minister, on Thursday said 16 rounds of bidding have been completed in the first three days of the auction that started on July 26 and it will continue on Friday.

Bids worth Rs 1,49,623 crore have been received at the end of the third day, he said.

This is marginally higher than Rs 1,49,454 crore (£15.46 billion)-worth bids received at the end of the ninth round on Wednesday (27), the second day of the auction.

The minister also said industry is committed to taking services to rural areas.
