Wishes poured in thick and fast for Indian prime minister Narendra Modi who turned 72 on Saturday (17) but among them all, the note that popular Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan left was specially noticed by millions.

The veteran actor, who wished Modi on Twitter on Saturday afternoon praising his “dedication for the welfare” of the country, advised him to take an off on his birthday and enjoy it.

“Your dedication for the welfare of our country and its people is highly appreciated. May you have the strength and health to achieve all your goals. Take a day off and enjoy your Birthday, sir. Happy Birthday,” Khan said.

However, it seemed the actor’s wish didn’t reach the prime minister as the latter was as busy on his birthday — from reintroducing cheetahs to the Indian wild after 70 years since they got locally extinct to attending meetings of self-help groups, inaugurating skilling centres for some vulnerable tribal groups and addressing students in the first-ever convocation of industrial training institutes. He was also set to launch the country’s National Logistics Policy in the afternoon.

Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party was also busy conducting programmes on the occasion to boost the image of their tallest leader.

Other Bollywood actors such as Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Ajay Devgn, Anupam Kher, and others also wished Modi, India’s first prime minister who was born after Independence, on his birthday.

The man returned to India earlier in the day from Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where he went to take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
