A WOMAN from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu has requested the country’s external affairs ministry to help her bring back the mortal remains of her husband who was recently murdered in Germany.
In her petition, 23-year-old P Divya said her husband Prakash Panneerselvam, 33, was killed by a co-worker, who also hails from Tamil Nadu, in the European country last week, Indo Asian News Service reported.
She said she came to know about her husband’s death from other Tamil workers.
Divya added that officials from the Indian embassy in Germany had called her and taken details of her late husband.
Panneerselvam earlier worked as a welder in the Middle East but was lured by another person to take up a job in Hungary for a higher pay, Divya said.
He had paid Rs 250,000 for visa and flight ticket to Hungary and reached there in March 2022, the petition said. But there, Panneerselvam found that the job was not of a welder but a cable layer.
While working in Hungary, a group of Germans employed in the same company took some Indians that also included Panneerselvam, to go to Germany in April this year. Divya said her husband had not received any salary for the past few months.
She has also sought the government of Tamil Nadu’s help to bring back her husband’s body to India and get his pending salary.
