Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has revealed that his mother, Zeenat Hussain, will make her first-ever appearance on the big screen in his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par. At 90, Zeenat Hussain’s debut is a touching addition to the much-anticipated film, which is set to release in theatres on June 20, 2025.

Aamir shared the story behind this special cameo, explaining that the idea came from the film’s director, RS Prasanna. While shooting a vibrant wedding celebration song for Sitaare Zameen Par, Zeenat expressed interest in visiting the film set and seeing the filmmaking process up close.

Sensing a unique opportunity, Prasanna approached Aamir with a heartfelt request: “Sir, if you don’t mind, can you request Ammi ji to be in the shot? It’s the last song of the film; it’s a wedding celebration sequence. She can easily be one of the guests. It’s an emotional thing for me; I want her to be a part of the film.”

Initially hesitant, Aamir admitted, “I told him, ‘Tu pagal ho gaya hai? Meri himmat nahi hogi Ammi ko poochne ki, ki film mei kaam karo, shot do. She is very ziddi.’” However, after some encouragement, he asked his mother, who surprisingly agreed: “She replied, ‘Haan theek hai (okay, fine).’ I was shocked! So, she is there in one or two shots. It’s the only film of mine that she has ever been a part of.”

Zeenat Hussain’s cameo is especially meaningful, as she has never before appeared in any of her son’s films. Aamir’s sister, Nikhat Khan, also features in Sitaare Zameen Par, making it a true family affair.

The film stars Aamir Khan as an assistant coach of a major basketball team. After being dismissed from his job, his character is faced with a choice: go to jail or complete 90 days of community service by coaching a team of specially abled basketball players.

Genelia Deshmukh plays Aamir’s love interest, with a talented ensemble cast that includes Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, and Aayush Bhansali.

Sitaare Zameen Par is described as a spiritual sequel to the beloved Taare Zameen Par, promising an emotional narrative centered on resilience, inclusion, and the power of community.

With Zeenat Hussain’s touching debut, the film will resonate even more deeply with audiences, celebrating both cinematic milestones and family bonds. Don’t miss this heartwarming moment in Bollywood history when Sitaare Zameen Par releases on June 20, 2025
