Claims resurface from 2012 film set
British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is facing revived scrutiny over decade-old misconduct accusations just as momentum builds around him potentially becoming the next James Bond.
The allegations relate to the set of Oliver Stone’s 2012 thriller Savages, in which Taylor-Johnson starred alongside Taylor Kitsch and Mexican actress Sandra Echeverría.
In a social media post made by Echeverría in 2020 — now circulating again — she claimed Taylor-Johnson and Kitsch aggressively revved a truck during a scene where her character was tied up in a van, causing her to fall and hurt herself.
“Me being tied feet and hands I could not hold myself up, and they only revved the truck stronger so that I would hurt myself more,” she wrote. She said Taylor-Johnson later apologized at the film’s premiere.
Resurfacing amid Bond buzz
The renewed focus comes at a pivotal moment in Taylor-Johnson’s career. Reports earlier this year suggested he is a leading contender to take over the James Bond franchise following Daniel Craig’s exit. The actor has also been linked to high-profile superhero roles, fueling speculation about major studio interest.
Industry watchers note that the timing of the revived allegations could impact casting conversations around such blockbuster projects.
Insiders defend Taylor-Johnson
Sources close to the actor say he has moved on from his early-career behavior.
“It’s no secret Aaron was a little cocky in his youth,” one insider told media. “But he has grown so much since then. It would be a tragedy if he lost out on big roles because of something that happened in his early 20s.”
Taylor-Johnson, now 35, has not commented publicly on the resurfaced claims.
Public and industry watching closely
As speculation over the Bond role intensifies, Hollywood insiders and fans are monitoring how the controversy could influence casting decisions. No studio attached to the Bond franchise has addressed the situation.
Separate gossip reports have also linked Taylor-Johnson to pop star Ariana Grande, though neither has confirmed the rumors.
