Before the controversy over the pulling down of the Indian Tricolour at the Indian high commission building in London on Sunday (19) died down, yet another incident of an Indian diplomatic establishment abroad coming under attack from the sympathisers of the Khalistani movement has been reported.

On Monday (20), several videos went viral showing a huge mob attacking the Indian consulate in the city of San Francisco in the US with loud Punjabi music playing in the background. The attackers allegedly spray-painted a huge graffiti saying “Free Amritpal” on the diplomatic premise’s outer wall.

The videos, which were filmed by the mob, showed men smashing glass on doors and windows of the consulate building with the wooden butt of the Khalistani flags they were waving earlier.

Three persons, presumably employees of the Indian consulate, were seen removing Khalistani flags that were installed near the entrance of the building when the mob attacked and broke through a barricade shouting slogans. Some of the men removing the flags were seen running to take shelter indoors, chased by some of the protesters carrying the flags.

When they failed to enter the building as the door was shut on their faces, they were seen hitting the doors and windows violently with the butts of the the flags. One of the protesters was seen shattering the windows with a sword.

In Canberra, Australia, supporters of Khalistan gathered in front of the country’s parliament to protest against the crackdown on Singh and his aides in the northern Indian state of Punjab.
