Family gathers in Hyderabad

Reports indicate that Allu Arjun, who was in Mumbai at the time of her passing, immediately cancelled his engagements to return to Hyderabad. His cousin, actor Ram Charan, also halted filming for director Buchi Babu Sana’s project Peddi in Mysore to attend the funeral.

Chiranjeevi, brother-in-law of Allu Aravind, is said to be in Hyderabad assisting with arrangements. Pawan Kalyan and Naga Babu, currently in Vizag for a public event, are expected to visit the family on Sunday to pay their respects.

A remembered bond

Allu Arjun shared a close relationship with his grandmother. In December 2024, a video of Kanakaratnam performing a traditional ritual to ward off the evil eye for her grandson went viral on social media. The emotional clip, recorded after Arjun’s brief arrest in connection with the Pushpa 2 stampede case, showed the actor touching her feet before embracing her.

Legacy of the Allu family

Kanakaratnam was the wife of legendary actor Allu Ramalingaiah, a Padma Shri awardee, who passed away in July 2004. The Allu–Konidela family remains one of the most influential in Telugu cinema, with multiple generations active in the industry.
