Candid about her journey
Amy Schumer is once again drawing attention for her refreshingly honest take on weight loss and health. The 44-year-old comedian shared a photo over the weekend showing her transformation as she continues her wellness journey.
Wearing a short black dress and heels, Schumer posed with friends while attending Paul McCartney’s concert in Las Vegas. The photo quickly sparked admiration from fans and fellow celebrities. Isla Fisher commented “Those legs ❤️❤️❤️,” while Real Housewives of New Jersey star Margaret Josephs added, “Ok legs for days!!🔥.”
Her experience with Ozempic
Earlier this year, Schumer spoke on The Howard Stern Show about her negative experience using Ozempic, a medication often prescribed for diabetes and, increasingly, for weight loss.
“I have this gene, GDF15, which makes me extremely prone to nausea,” she explained. “I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was bedridden. I was vomiting, had no energy. I lost 30 pounds so fast, but I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow. What’s the point?”
Ozempic, known generically as semaglutide, was originally approved by the FDA for treating type 2 diabetes. Its popularity for off-label weight-loss use has sparked both fascination and controversy.
A shift toward health and honesty
Schumer has long been outspoken about transparency in Hollywood’s approach to body image. On Watch What Happens Live! in 2023, she called out celebrities who denied using medications like Ozempic, saying, “Just stop lying. You’re on it or you’ve had work done.”
The Trainwreck star said she later found better balance with Mounjaro (tirzepatide), another diabetes medication now used for weight management. In a video shared with her nearly 13 million Instagram followers, she said, “I’m having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that.”
Managing hormones and energy
In addition to medication, Schumer revealed she is now on estrogen and progesterone after learning she was in perimenopause. “My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy,” she said. “I want to get down more, if you know what I mean. I’m talking about sex.”
She credited hormone therapy and her updated fitness approach for improving her energy and mood, adding that she feels “stronger and happier” than she has in years.
Keeping it real
Throughout her journey, Schumer has balanced humour with openness, using her platform to discuss the realities of health, hormones, and ageing. Her honesty continues to resonate with fans who value her unfiltered perspective.
As one commenter wrote beneath her latest post, “Thanks for keeping it real. You’re proof that honesty is the best kind of glow-up.”
