A lively exchange on Two Much
The latest episode of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, a celebrity talk show known for its candid banter and unscripted humour, brought together filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Ananya Panday for a spirited conversation. The episode quickly turned into a generational face-off, with Twinkle Khanna and Farah playfully teasing Ananya over Gen Z’s attitudes toward mental health and social media fame.
Gen Z vs the older guard
It all began when Twinkle jokingly remarked, “Gen Z needs Google Maps to walk down their own street,” prompting laughter from Kajol and Farah. Ananya countered confidently, “Gen Z knows a lot more than what people give them credit for.”
Farah quipped, “What do they know? They know about sourdough and all that,” drawing more laughter. But Ananya, unfazed, stood her ground.
“We’re the first generation that talks about feelings”
Defending her peers, Ananya said, “They’re very in touch with their emotions. We’re the first generation that talks about feelings, embraces mental health, and freedom of expression.”
Her statement led to more teasing. Twinkle replied with a grin, “They’re traumatised by everything,” while Farah added, “They’re expressing it a bit too much, even getting out of something is a mental health issue now.”
Despite the jokes, Ananya’s remarks reflected a generational shift in Bollywood, one that normalises discussions about therapy, anxiety, and emotional vulnerability.
Does social media decide who gets cast?
The conversation later veered toward social media’s growing role in the film industry. Ananya admitted, “I don’t think it decides all casting, but I’ve heard people say, ‘Oh, this person has lots of followers, let’s take them.’”
Farah disagreed, saying, “For a good role, they’ll still pick the better actor.” Ananya laughed, “I hope so, but I don’t think it always happens.”

Farah then mentioned Ananya’s cousin, Ahaan Panday, revealing that he was advised to avoid social media before his debut. “With Ahaan, it was the opposite; he was told not to go online till the film releases,” she said, before teasing, “Just because you lost a role to an influencer!”
Ananya cheekily responded, “Pissed,” wrapping up the segment with laughter.
