As India stands firm amid rising military tensions with Pakistan, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has expressed heartfelt support for the Indian Armed Forces. Reacting to a viral social media post declaring soldiers as the nation’s true heroes—not celebrities or cricketers—Anushka showed her agreement by liking the post on Instagram.

The post, originally shared by a meme account, read: “Days like these make you realise that Army men are the real heroes, not Bollywood celebrities and cricketers.” The gesture stood out especially because Anushka is not only a celebrated actress but also married to Indian cricket star Virat Kohli.

Beyond this silent endorsement, Anushka also took to her Instagram Story to directly honour the military’s sacrifices. “Eternally grateful to our Indian Armed Forces for protecting us through these times like the heroes that they are. Heartfelt gratitude to the sacrifices they and their families have made. Jai Hind,” she wrote.

Anushka’s connection to the armed forces runs deep. She is the daughter of Colonel (Retd) Ajay Kumar Sharma, a decorated army veteran who served in critical operations including Operation Bluestar and the Kargil War. Reflecting on her upbringing, Anushka once shared in a 2012 interview, “Kargil was a tough one. I was too young at that time, but I was scared of seeing my mother. She would always have the news channel switched on throughout the day and would get upset when casualties were announced.”

She added poignantly, “I take pride in saying that I am an army officer’s daughter even more than being an actor.”

Anushka’s emotional tribute and strong familial ties to the defence services have earned praise from fans and followers, especially during a time when patriotism is front and centre in national discourse.

On the professional front, Anushka has been on a hiatus from acting. She was last seen in Zero (2018) alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. She has completed filming for Chakda Xpress, a biopic based on cricketer Jhulan Goswami, though the release date is still awaited.
