Ramsey puts themself forward for Spider-Man
The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey has expressed interest in taking on the role of Spider-Man.
In an interview with Variety, Ramsey was asked if co-star Pedro Pascal, who appears in Marvel’s upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, had spoken to them about joining the superhero universe.
“I don’t know about that,” Ramsey replied, before suggesting: “I could be Spider-Man. Tom Holland did a great job though. So maybe they do need to make a new [superhero] for me.”
First experience with Marvel
Ramsey revealed that they only recently watched a Marvel film for the first time. They chose Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Spider-Man, describing it as “incredible” and adding: “I loved it.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day in production
Filming is under way on the next live-action Spider-Man instalment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, due for release next year.
The film will mark Tom Holland’s fourth appearance as the character in a standalone movie and also features the return of Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds and Michael Mando as Scorpion.
Other Marvel characters set to appear include Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. New cast members include Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear).
Meanwhile, the animated sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has had its release pushed back to 2027 after previous delays, though the latest postponement is only by a few weeks.

Exploring identity
Earlier this year, Ramsey spoke about exploring their gender identity through the online game Club Penguin.
“My penguin was called Tomboy Bella and was red. I did karate on the freaking Karate Hill. I was loving life in Club Penguin world. You can be whoever you want behind that avatar,” they told Them magazine.
