DJ offers his account of the wedding moment
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s wedding DJ has spoken publicly about the moment described by Brooklyn as an “awkward” dance with his mother, Victoria Beckham, during the 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz.
The comments come days after Brooklyn shared a series of allegations about his parents, Sir David and Lady Beckham, including a claim that his mother interrupted his first dance with his bride.
DJ Fat Tony, whose real name is Tony Marnoch, said the situation was “really awkward for everyone in the room.”
Claims follow Brooklyn’s social media post
In his post, Brooklyn said Victoria had danced “very inappropriately” with him in front of guests, leaving him feeling “uncomfortable” and “humiliated.”
Addressing speculation around the incident, Marnoch rejected exaggerated online claims, saying there was “no Spice Girl action” and no provocative behavior during the dance.
Marc Anthony’s on-stage moment changed the atmosphere
According to the DJ, singer Marc Anthony was performing at the reception and invited Brooklyn onto the stage.
“Everyone was expecting Nicola to come up for the first dance,” Marnoch told ITV’s This Morning. Instead, Anthony asked for “the most beautiful woman in the room” — and called Victoria Beckham’s name.
Marnoch said the moment caught everyone off guard and led to Nicola leaving the room in tears.
‘The whole situation was very awkward’
Marnoch said Victoria joined Brooklyn on stage, while Brooklyn appeared visibly distressed, believing he was about to share his first dance with his wife.
“Nicola leaves the room crying her eyes out. Brooklyn is stuck there on stage,” he said. He added that Anthony encouraged the pair to dance in a Latin style, instructing Brooklyn to place his hands on his mother’s hips.
“The whole situation was very awkward for everyone in the room,” Marnoch repeated.
DJ says impact depends on Brooklyn’s feelings
Marnoch, who has worked at several Beckham family events in the past, described them as a close-knit family that enjoys dancing. However, he said the appropriateness of the moment ultimately depends on Brooklyn’s perspective.
“If he feels that it was inappropriate and awkward, then it was,” he said.
Fallout continued the next morning
The DJ said tensions carried over into the following day’s brunch, describing it as “the most awkward part” as guests discussed the events of the night before.
He said Brooklyn and Nicola left the wedding “devastated” and suggested the dance was only one part of deeper family issues.
Online reaction and wider family rift
Marnoch said it was “sad” that public attention had focused so heavily on the dance, especially as mock-ups and memes circulated online.
He suggested Brooklyn’s post was an attempt to reclaim his narrative after years of being labeled a “nepo baby,” adding that the situation reflects a deeper family breakdown.
“What we’re all missing is that parents have lost their child, and a son’s lost his parents and the rest of his family,” he said.
Beckham family yet to respond
In his post, Brooklyn said he did not want to reconcile with his family, citing additional wedding-related tensions and accusing his parents of prioritizing “brand Beckham.”
Sir David and Lady Beckham have not publicly responded to the claims or shared their version of events.
