Husband issues statement after viral incident
Andrew Cabot, the husband of Kristin Cabot, has addressed the controversy surrounding his wife after she was filmed with her former boss on the kiss cam at a Coldplay concert in Boston on July 16.
A spokeswoman for Cabot told PEOPLE that the couple had already been “privately and amicably separated” weeks before the concert. She added that Kristin’s decision to file for divorce was underway prior to the event. Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum, hopes the statement will “provide respectful closure to speculation and allow his family the privacy they’ve always valued.” No further comment will be made, the spokeswoman said.
The viral Coldplay kiss cam moment
Kristin Cabot and Any Byron, her then-boss at Astronomer, were shown embracing on the jumbotron during the concert. As cameras lingered, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin appeared surprised, joking, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The clip quickly went viral, sparking widespread speculation. Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan and has two children with her.
Professional fallout for Cabot and Byron
Following the incident, Astronomer placed Byron on leave. Days later, he resigned from the company. Kristin Cabot also resigned from her role as HR chief. It remains unclear whether Byron and his wife are still together.
Divorce proceedings
According to NBC News, Kristin Cabot filed for divorce on August 13 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The next hearing is scheduled for November 26 at the family division of New Hampshire’s 10th Circuit Court.
Andrew Cabot has two children from a previous relationship. This would be his third divorce. He was previously married to Julia Cabot, who told the Daily Mail that Andrew confirmed the separation after the incident and added her own view that neither Andrew nor Kristin were “marriage material.”
