Rapper and music producer Yo Yo Honey Singh has issued a public apology after a remark he made during a recent concert in Delhi went viral and triggered criticism on social media. The controversial comment, delivered on stage at singer Nanku-Karun’s concert, was perceived by many as inappropriate due to its explicit nature, prompting widespread debate about language, responsibility, and public influence.

During the performance, Singh made a statement encouraging concertgoers to engage in sexual activity in their cars to escape the cold weather. While some audience members laughed it off, others took offense, calling the remark insensitive and unsuitable for a public platform. As clips from the event circulated online, the backlash intensified, leading the rapper to address the controversy directly. In response, Honey Singh shared a video message on his Instagram account, offering an apology and explaining the context behind his words. He emphasized that his intention was never to offend or insult anyone but to bring attention to a serious public health concern affecting India’s younger generation.

Singh revealed that just days before the concert, he had interacted with gynecologists and sexologists during a casual lunch. According to the rapper, the medical professionals spoke to him at length about the increasing prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases among young people due to unsafe sexual practices. The conversation left a strong impression on him and influenced what he later said on stage.

“I was told that many young people are suffering because they are not practicing safe sex,” Singh explained. “When I saw the Gen Z audience at the concert, I thought I should communicate this message in a language they would understand, encouraging them to use protection and be responsible.”

However, Singh acknowledged that his choice of words and delivery did not land as intended. He admitted that while he believed speaking in a tone familiar to Gen Z, shaped by OTT content and modern films, would make the message more relatable, it instead offended many viewers.

Addressing those who were hurt by his remarks, Singh offered a heartfelt apology. He said he regretted using language that was perceived as vulgar and accepted responsibility for the backlash. Reflecting on the incident, he noted that public figures must be especially cautious, as statements can easily be edited, misinterpreted, and spread rapidly online.

“I had no intention of disrespecting anyone,” he said. “Mistakes happen, but I will be more careful going forward—about what I say, how I say it, and who I say it to.”

Singh concluded his message by acknowledging the challenges artists face when trying to connect with younger audiences without crossing boundaries. He reaffirmed his commitment to being more mindful in the future while continuing to use his platform responsibly.

The incident has reignited conversations around celebrity accountability, freedom of expression, and the fine line between relatability and offensiveness in today’s viral media landscape.
