Huma Qureshi weighs in on the cheating debate
Huma Qureshi speaks out after Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s recent remarks on physical versus emotional cheating sparked a wide discussion online. During their appearance on Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle last month, the two actors suggested that physical infidelity may be a “mistake” one can overlook, while emotional cheating is harder to move past. Their comments drew strong reactions, with many disagreeing.
Asked about the debate on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Huma says she does not support that distinction. “Cheating is cheating, what is physical or emotional in it. I am very old-school in that regard,” she says.
“I don’t believe in free passes”
When the host explains that Kajol and Twinkle believe physical cheating can sometimes be forgiven, Huma firmly disagrees. “I don’t believe that. I am very black and white in these matters. Either don’t be with someone. But if you are, what is this free pass? I don’t understand these kinds of things,” she says. Jokingly, she adds, “If you are caught, you will be beaten up.”
How the controversy started
The debate began during an October episode of Two Much, where Janhvi Kapoor and Karan Johar joined the hosts. When asked whether emotional cheating is worse than physical cheating, Janhvi calls physical infidelity a deal-breaker. Kajol and Twinkle, however, argue that physical mistakes can be ignored with time. Twinkle says, “Raat gayi, baat gayi”, a remark that fuels online criticism. Janhvi stands her ground, responding, “Baat nahi jaati.”
Huma’s recent work
Huma Qureshi recently appears as the antagonist in season 3 of Delhi Crime on Netflix, opposite Shefali Shah. A week earlier, she stars in the fourth season of Maharani on SonyLIV.
