India records 91,702 new Covid-19 cases; 3,403 deaths

INDIA on Friday (11) reported 91,702 new Covid-19 infections over the past 24 hours, and 3,403 daily deaths from the coronavirus.

The South Asian country’s total Covid-19 case load now stands at 29.3 million, while total fatalities are at 363,079, according to data from the health ministry.

India’s daily Covid count remained below the 100,000 mark for the fourth consecutive day.

The daily positivity rate dropped to 4.49 per cent, according to the ministry. Recoveries continue to outnumber daily new cases.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 27,790,073, the data stated.

The case fatality rate has increased to 1.24 per cent, and the active cases further declined to 1,121,671 comprising 3.83 per cent of the total infections.

A net decline of 46,281 cases has been recorded in the Covid-19 caseload in the past day.

Also, 2,044,131 tests were conducted on Thursday (10) taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of Covid-19 in the country to 374,242,384.

Cumulatively, 246,085,649 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The new fatalities were reported from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

According to the health ministry, more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
