India reports 132,364 new Covid-19 cases; 2,713 deaths

INDIA reported on Friday (4) 132,364 new coronavirus infections over the last 24 hours, while deaths rose by 2,713.

The tally of infections stood at 28.6 million and the death toll at 340,702, the health ministry said.

The total tally now stands at 28,574,350 out of which 26,597,655 people have recuperated from the disease. The recovery rate is 93.08 per cent, the ministry said.

The Covid-19 death toll in the country climbed to 340,702 on Friday.

A total of 2,075,428 tests were conducted on Thursday (3) taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of Covid-19 in the country to 357,433,846.

The daily positivity was recorded at 6.38 per cent. It has been less than 10 per cent for 11 consecutive days, the ministry said, adding that the weekly positivity rate has declined to 7.27 per cent.

The active cases have reduced to 1,635,993 comprising 5.73 per cent of the total infections.

A net decline of 77,420 cases has been recorded in the Covid-19 caseload in the last 24 hours while the case fatality rate stands at 1.19 per cent, the data stated.

The most number of fatalities were reported from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

The health ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
