A grand Indian American wedding in Udaipur has become the centre of global attention this week. Netra Mantena, daughter of Orlando-based billionaire and pharmaceutical leader Rama Raju Mantena, is marrying tech entrepreneur Vamsi Gadiraju in a ceremony that has drawn celebrities, business leaders and influencers from around the world.

Who are the couple?Netra Mantena is the daughter of Padmaja and Rama Raju Mantena, CEO of Ingenus Pharmaceuticals. Her father, a respected Indian American business leader, runs a multinational pharmaceutical company with operations across the US, Switzerland and India. His career includes launching major healthcare ventures and shaping oncology care in the United States. To sponsor a sibling, the person must be a US citizen aged 21 or older. Proof of citizenship can include a US passport, birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or other official documents.

At the final stage, the sponsor must show financial ability through Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) to support the sibling.
Bringing a brother or sister to the United States as a permanent resident is possible, but takes a long time due to how US immigration rules are structured. Only US citizens who are at least 21 years old can sponsor their siblings. Green card holders cannot do so. Siblings are placed in the F4 family preference category, which has a yearly limit on the number of visas that can be issued, making the waiting period very long, especially for high-demand countries like India and the Philippines.

Proof of citizenship can include a US passport, birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or other official documents. The sponsor and sibling must share at least one parent, and the relationship can include biological, half, step, or adopted siblings, as long as the legal relationship was formed before the required age.

Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral race marks a milestone moment for the city’s political history. At 34, he becomes the youngest mayor since 1892, the first Muslim to hold the office, and New York’s first mayor born in Africa. His rise has been widely described as inspirational, rooted in activism, community organizing, and a message of immigrant empowerment. Yet, despite his growing national prominence, Mamdani is constitutionally barred from seeking the office of President of the United States.
The reason lies in Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the US Constitution. This section outlines three main requirements for presidential eligibility: the individual must be a natural-born US citizen, must be at least 35 years old, and must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years. The most significant of these in Mamdani’s case is the requirement of being a natural-born citizen. In classic New York fashion, Sumedh Sunkaraneni and Priya Gandhi, two ambitious young professionals in finance and tech, matched online in 2017 and met for a first date that neither expected much from. “We had been living just five streets away from one another without even knowing it,” Priya told Condé Nast Traveller.
Their lives were a blur of deadlines, travel, and city hustle, but somehow, they made space for each other.  “In the beginning, we were long distance in a very New York way—living in the same city but rarely in it at the same time,” Sumedh laughed. But soon, “Thursday to Sunday became sacred for us,” the couple recalled, sharing that their relationship flourished through simple joys—late-night takeout, hidden cafés, and a shared passion for travel.
