Karan Johar breaks silence on Ozempic, weight loss rumors with mysterious revelation

Karan Johar shut down Ozempic rumours, saying he has no reason to hide the truth—he’s a single parent, has shared deeply personal stories before, and if he had used it, he’d have proudly endorsed it as a brand ambassador.

For months, filmmaker Karan Johar’s drastic weight loss has sparked a wave of speculation across social media, with many assuming he was on Ozempic—a diabetes drug often linked to rapid fat loss and now a buzzword in celebrity transformations.

But Karan has finally addressed the whispers and denied any such use, all while adding a touch of his trademark wit. “If I had taken Ozempic, I would’ve monetized it,” he quipped in a candid chat on Raj Shamani’s podcast, leaving fans both intrigued and curious.

Karan, known for his outspoken candour, admitted that his physical transformation was the result of sheer discipline—not a miracle jab. “People keep saying I’m on Ozempic, and I’m tired of it,” he said. “You don’t know my truth, and I’m not interested in telling you my truth.” He revealed that he has battled body image issues for years, suffering from body dysmorphia, and shared that losing weight wasn’t just a cosmetic choice, but also an emotional and psychological victory.

Opening up further, the 52-year-old filmmaker said he had tried numerous diets and workouts over the years, but none yielded long-term success. “I’ve always been battling the bulge. I’ve done 500 kinds of workouts and been on a thousand diets. The needle just wouldn’t move. I later found out I had a thyroid condition, which was affecting my metabolism,” he shared.

When asked why celebrities often deny using drugs like Ozempic or its Indian counterpart Mounjaro, Karan said he has no reason to hide anything. “I’m a single parent with two kids. I’ve written a book where I revealed details of my life I never had before. Why would I hide this? If I had used it, I would’ve openly said so and advised others too. I’d probably be a brand ambassador by now,” he joked.

Instead, Karan credits his transformation to a rigorous One Meal a Day (OMAD) diet that he followed for seven months. “I’d eat one meal at 8:30 pm every day—no glucose, no lactose, no gluten. It was extremely difficult in the first week, but I was relentless,” he said. Although mildly lactose intolerant, Karan has recently reintroduced dairy into his meals to gain back a bit of weight, suggesting that his approach is now more balanced.

Despite the new confidence he feels in his skin, Karan admitted that the psychological toll of body dysmorphia still lingers. “Even now, I look at myself and despise my body sometimes. But for the first time in 52 years, I feel confident. It gives me joy.”

While the public may remain fixated on celebrity shortcuts to transformation, Karan Johar’s story adds a human, vulnerable layer to the glitz—reminding us that even those in the spotlight are fighting private battles behind closed doors.
