- Kim Kardashian says ChatGPT gave incorrect answers during her law studies
- Claims AI responses led to failed tests and “talked back” when challenged
- Star studied law through California apprenticeship program and has passed “baby bar”
Kim Kardashian has revealed that relying on ChatGPT during her law studies has backfired, saying the chatbot’s incorrect answers led her to fail tests. Speaking in Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test series, Kardashian joked that the tool has become her “frenemy.”
‘It made me fail tests’
During the interview with Teyana Taylor, Kardashian admitted she used the chatbot for legal questions while studying. “I use it for legal advice,” she said, explaining that she would upload questions and wait for answers. “They’re always wrong. It has made me fail tests.”
She added that she would argue with the chatbot when it gave incorrect responses and blame it for her results. “I’ll get mad and yell at it… and it will talk back to me.”
Kardashian described the exchanges as amusing but frustrating, saying the chatbot often replies with messages about trusting her instincts rather than providing legal accuracy.
‘Toxic friends’
Taylor teased Kardashian about “cheating,” before commenting that she and the chatbot seemed like “toxic friends.” Kardashian agreed, joking that ChatGPT sometimes sounds like a life coach instead of an assistant. “She is teaching me a life lesson and then becoming my therapist,” she said.
Kardashian said she often screenshots the chats and shares them with friends, surprised at the tone of the AI responses.
Her legal journey
Kardashian has been studying law for six years through a California apprenticeship program. She announced in 2021 that she passed the “baby bar” exam. Reports say she sat the full bar exam this summer and is awaiting results.
Alongside her studies, she plays a lawyer in the legal drama All’s Fair, which follows a women-led law firm handling high-profile divorce cases in Los Angeles. The cast also includes Teyana Taylor, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts and Sarah Paulson.
A bigger conversation on AI tools
Kardashian’s comments arrive as students and professionals increasingly experiment with AI platforms for research and study support. Her experience highlights the risks of over-relying on chatbots for specialist subjects. The model’s goal, she joked, may not be helping her pass but teaching her confidence instead.
