North West sparks debate with new piercings

Kim Kardashian is facing fresh criticism after her 12-year-old daughter North West revealed new finger piercings on social media.

In a TikTok video shared on the account she runs with her mother, North flaunted two jeweled dermal piercings embedded in her fingers, one featuring a blue gem and another with silver studs. She also shared clips showing parts of the piercing process.

A dermal piercing differs from traditional piercings as it involves a small anchor inserted beneath the skin’s surface, a procedure often performed by professionals due to its complexity and potential risks.

Fans call out Kim’s parenting

The video quickly circulated on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), where many users criticized Kim for allowing her daughter to undergo the procedure.

“This is what happens when you try to be your child’s best friend instead of a parent,” one person commented. Another wrote, “She’s 12, this is absolutely absurd.”

Several users also expressed concern about the medical risks involved. One ER nurse commented, “The hand is literally the worst spot infection-wise. These piercings are prone to rejection, especially for someone who’s still growing.”

Earlier in August, North’s outfit during a trip to Italy with Kim also stirred debate. Dressed in a corset-style top and accessorized with a Vivienne Westwood handbag, the look prompted online criticism that it was “too mature” for her age.
