Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has confirmed that the long-awaited Krrish 4 will hit theaters in 2027. The film, starring his son Hrithik Roshan, is scheduled to begin production in mid-2026, with shooting continuing through the end of that year.

In a significant development for the franchise, Hrithik Roshan will not only reprise his role as the superhero Krrish but will also make his directorial debut with the fourth installment. The announcement has heightened anticipation among fans of the series, which began in 2006 with Krrish.
Rakesh Roshan on budgeting and pre-production
Speaking with Bollywood Hungama on his 76th birthday, Rakesh Roshan provided an update on the film’s progress. He explained that while the script was completed quickly, finalizing the budget required more time.
“Now that we have an idea of the definite budget required for this film, we’ll be starting the film,” he said, confirming that pre-production work is already in motion.
Release date locked for 2027
Addressing speculation about possible delays, Roshan clarified that the team is targeting a 2027 release and not 2028, as some reports had suggested.
Legacy of the Krrish franchise
The Krrish franchise has been a milestone in Indian superhero cinema. The first film, released in 2006, starred Hrithik Roshan in a dual role alongside Priyanka Chopra, Rekha, and Naseeruddin Shah. The story followed Krishna Mehra, who inherits superpowers from his father Rohit Mehra and dons the mantle of Krrish to battle evil scientist Dr. Siddhant Arya.
The series continued with Krrish 3 in 2013, and in April 2025, Krrish 4 was officially announced. The upcoming installment will expand on the saga, with Hrithik Roshan leading the project both on screen and behind the camera.
