In the wake of India’s largest cross-border military operation since 1971, dubbed Operation Sindoor, several Pakistani celebrities have lashed out at the Indian government’s airstrikes that targeted nine terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The military action was a direct retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, triggering national outrage across India.
Mahira Khan, one of Pakistan’s most prominent film stars, took to Instagram to share her fury. Reposting a tweet from author Fatima Bhutto condemning the strikes, Mahira added, “Seriously cowardly!!! May Allah protect our country, may better sense prevail. Ameen.” Her post quickly went viral among her followers, amplifying the anti-India sentiment that’s been brewing since the airstrikes.
Hania Aamir, another well-known actress with a massive social media following, also responded on Instagram with a single word: “Cowardly.” Her sharp response added to a growing chorus of voices from the Pakistani entertainment industry criticizing India’s military move.
Actress Mawra Hocane took a more traditional approach by expressing her concern on X (formerly Twitter). In her emotional post, she wrote, “Strongly condemn India’s cowardly attack on Pakistan. Innocent civilians have lost their lives. May Allah protect us all… May sense prevail. Ya Allah ho Ya Hafizo. #PakistanZindabad.”
These reactions come after the Indian Armed Forces, in a late-night operation on Wednesday (7), executed a coordinated attack targeting key hideouts of terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to Indian defence sources, nine strategic locations were hit — four deep inside Pakistan in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot, and five in PoJK, using precision-guided munitions.
The operation was a joint military effort involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and lasted a concise 25 minutes, displaying India’s modern warfare capabilities and intelligence precision. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the strikes were non-escalatory, avoiding Pakistani military installations and focusing solely on terrorist infrastructure.
The Indian government clarified the motive behind the strikes: a measured and focused retaliation to the Pahalgam massacre, sending a strong message without inviting full-scale conflict. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the Ministry said in its official statement.
While India views Operation Sindoor as a strategic victory against terrorism, Pakistani celebrities and citizens alike are denouncing the strikes as acts of aggression. With tensions between the two nuclear neighbors escalating once again, the region braces for the diplomatic and political fallout of a night that redefined the balance of power.
As global powers watch the situation closely, both countries are now navigating the fragile line between retribution and restraint — and the world is listening.
