Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has landed in controversy after his former manager, Vipin Kumar, alleged that the actor physically assaulted him following a disagreement related to a social media post. According to Kumar, the actor attacked him in the parking lot of his apartment complex and used abusive language, triggering a police complaint and media storm.
Vipin Kumar, who claims to have worked with Unni Mukundan for six years, stated that the assault took place shortly after he shared a promotional post praising actor Tovino Thomas’ latest film Narivetta. The post reportedly angered Mukundan, leading to a heated verbal exchange followed by a physical confrontation.
In a statement to the media, Kumar detailed the incident, saying, “Unni came to my building and asked me to come down. When I met him in the parking lot, he verbally abused me and physically assaulted me. He even broke my glasses by stomping on them. I filed a police complaint at the Infopark Police Station and sought medical treatment after the incident.”
Kumar alleged that Unni Mukundan’s recent frustrations—including the box office failure of his latest film Get-Set Baby and production hurdles for his directorial debut—have made the actor volatile. “Despite facing teasing and misbehavior from him during our time working together, I stayed in the job. But after Marco, things changed. He’s been visibly frustrated due to lack of meaningful projects, the poor reception of Get-Set Baby, and the fact that Sree Gokulam Movies backed out of his directorial debut. He has been taking out his anger on people around him,” Kumar added.
Interestingly, while Kumar claims that Sree Gokulam Movies withdrew their support, their original announcement about the project is still visible on the production house’s official Instagram page, casting doubts on that specific claim.
The altercation reportedly escalated after Unni allegedly phoned Kumar on the night of the social media post praising Narivetta and fired him. “He didn’t like that I praised Narivetta publicly. I’ve been in this industry for 18 years and have worked on PR for more than 500 films. Praising a film is part of my job. After I posted about Narivetta, he called and fired me, and then came to my residence to physically confront me,” Kumar explained.
According to police sources quoted by Mathrubhumi, the actor and his former manager had a strained relationship for some time, and the confrontation may have been the culmination of long-standing tensions. A case has now been registered against Unni Mukundan, though he has yet to issue an official statement in response to the allegations.

Unni Mukundan shot to national recognition after the release of Marco, dubbed as “India’s most violent movie yet.” The film grossed over $12.31 million worldwide and sparked both acclaim and criticism for its over-the-top action sequences. However, Mukundan’s career momentum seemed to wane after the commercial failure of Get-Set Baby, casting doubt over his standing as Malayalam cinema’s next big superstar.
As this controversy unfolds, the silence from Mukundan’s camp only adds to the intrigue. With serious charges now levied against him and a police investigation underway, the actor’s future projects may face significant scrutiny.
