A Sport-Forward Take on Traditional Bandhani

At the heart of the collection lies bandhani, the intricate Indian tie-dye technique long associated with Gujarat’s artisan communities. NorBlack NorWhite brings this tradition into the modern era by weaving it into sporty silhouettes — including bras, tights, tops, shorts, cross-body bags, and footwear.

Four Nike staples are reimagined in this collaboration: the Nike Air Max Craze, Pegasus 41, Motiva, and Calm Slide, each infused with Indian patterns and bold color palettes.

The pieces offer a seamless blend of performance and style, crafted to reflect both ancestral knowledge and athletic mindset.

Athletes Leading the Charge

Nike and NorBlack NorWhite are amplifying the voices of strong Indian women through the campaign, which stars wrestler Anshu Malik, sprinter Priya Mohan, and cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma. These sports icons represent a new generation of Indian women owning their strength and embracing cultural identity without compromise.

“When women wear pieces from our new collection, we want them to feel comfortable in their own skin, wherever they are in their journey,” said Amrit Kumar, co-founder of NorBlack NorWhite. “We want them to feel cool and collected, to have fun, and to own the spectrum of hues. We, as women, aren’t here to play.”

Rooted in Indian Heritage, Inspired by Global Movement

The label was founded in 2010 by Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar, two Toronto-born creatives who moved to India to explore their roots and work with rural artisan communities. The duo found inspiration in the textures and colors of Gujarat’s Kutch region, bringing new life to dying crafts through a fresh, modern design vocabulary.

“This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication, and ancestral knowledge that’s rooted in Indian culture,” added Kapadiya. “We hope each piece inspires women to draw into their own athletic mindset while navigating everyday life in India and around the world.”

A Global Fashion Moment for Indian Streetwear

With this collaboration, NorBlack NorWhite has not only taken Indian heritage to an international platform but also helped shape the global fashion conversation around authenticity, inclusivity, and empowerment.

As the world turns its eye toward more sustainable and culturally grounded fashion, the Nike x NorBlack NorWhite partnership stands as a symbol of what future-forward design can look like when it honors tradition.

This is more than just a collection — it’s a movement wrapped in fabric, stitched with intention, and powered by women who run the world.
