- Orry says he won’t “pretend to be friends” while carrying unresolved trauma
Social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, widely known as Orry, has spoken publicly about his ongoing fallout with Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan and her family, saying the rift is deeply personal and tied to what he describes as emotional trauma involving her mother, actor Amrita Singh.
In a recent interview, the 30-year-old influencer said reconciliation with the Khan family would only be possible if Amrita Singh were to apologize to him. While Orry stopped short of detailing the exact nature of the alleged trauma, he made it clear that the issue remains unresolved and continues to affect his relationship with Sara and her brother, Ibrahim Ali Khan.
“I unfollowed Sara a while ago, and I haven’t followed Ibrahim in years,” Orry said, addressing speculation around recent social media activity. “Pretending to be friends with Sara means pretending to be okay with the trauma her mother put me through, and I just don’t think I can do that anymore.”
The feud has increasingly played out online, drawing attention after fans noticed a series of unfollows and pointed comments exchanged on Instagram. Orry confirmed that his decision to distance himself from the family was intentional and long-standing, adding that the public only noticed it recently.
When asked whether he saw any chance of repairing ties, Orry said an apology from Amrita Singh would be the starting point. “If Amrita Singh were to apologize, I could maybe see myself letting it go in the future,” he said, underscoring that accountability mattered more to him than appearances.
The situation intensified further after Orry made a sarcastic comment about Sara Ali Khan’s acting career, which quickly went viral. Responding to criticism, he defended the remark as a lighthearted joke rather than a personal attack.
“I don’t really think I said anything wrong,” Orry said. “I made a small joke taking a dig at her career. The whole internet makes fun of Sara’s movies all the time. Her biggest body of work is basically a series of memes. People joke about me being jobless too—it’s not that deep.”
However, the comment sparked widespread debate online, with fans divided over whether Orry crossed a line or was simply echoing common internet humor.
Tensions escalated further when an Instagram user commented that “Amrita aunty is very angry,” prompting Orry to reply, “Put a glass of ice water on her head.” The remark was widely criticized as dismissive and added fuel to the controversy.
Another flashpoint involved a reel posted by Orry referencing “three worst names,” which many interpreted as targeting Sara Ali Khan, Amrita Singh, and actor Palak Tiwari. The post was later deleted after backlash.
Despite the criticism, Orry has stood by his position, saying he refuses to maintain superficial friendships at the cost of his mental well-being. For now, the feud appears far from resolved, with reconciliation hinging on an apology that has yet to come.
