Career recognition in Deauville
Pamela Anderson was honoured at the 51st Deauville American Film Festival in France on Friday, 5 September, where she received the Deauville Talent Award for her cultural impact. The festival praised the actress for combining her on-screen career with philanthropy and advocacy work.
Addressing relationship speculation
In her acceptance speech, Anderson appeared to reference recent reports suggesting her relationship with The Naked Gun co-star Liam Neeson was a publicity stunt.
“I do not and will never feed into PR stunts,” she told the audience. “That would be a death sentence. I’m authentically driven. I’m superstitious when it comes to love. And I’m not comfortable sharing any shred of my romantic life.”
She added: “There are no silly games being played. I’m sincere.”
Focus on authenticity
Anderson emphasised her approach to both her career and personal life:
“Do not mistake my kindness for weakness or my boldness for bitterness. I’m here on this journey, not for money or for fame, but to see what I’m made of in truth, hard work and to leave behind an honest legacy my family can be proud of.”
She also reflected on the nature of acting: “I know I’ll fall in love again and again on screen. That is my job. If we do it well, you will feel it. It is the greatest compliment.”
A career resurgence
The Baywatch star, 58, has enjoyed renewed critical attention in recent years. Her performance in The Last Showgirl earned nominations at the Golden Globe Awards, the Gotham Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
This year’s reboot of The Naked Gun, directed by Akiva Schaffer and co-starring Neeson, was positively received. Anderson has several upcoming projects, including Place to Be, Rosebush Pruning, Alma and Love Is Not the Answer, the latter marking Michael Cera’s debut as a writer-director. She is also set to star opposite Guy Pearce in Queen of the Falls.
