‘Men should get periods once to understand pain’

Actress Rashmika Mandanna has once again become the center of discussion after her recent statement about menstrual pain went viral. During an appearance on Jagapathi Babu’s chat show Jayammu Nishchayammu Ra, the actress said she wished men could experience periods at least once to understand what women go through.

When host Jagapathi Babu asked if she ever wished men could also get periods, Rashmika replied, “Yes, sir. Men should at least get periods once so they know that pain.”

Social media reacts sharply

The remark instantly went viral, dividing opinions online. While some users praised her for trying to highlight women’s struggles, others criticized her for being insensitive to men’s challenges.
Comments like “Try getting perspective first” and “We all face pain differently” trended on X (formerly Twitter), with several users accusing the actress of generalizing suffering.

Empathy or overstatement?

Rashmika’s comment follows her recent viral statement about wanting the film industry to adopt 9-to-4 work hours for better work-life balance. While many saw her latest remark as a call for empathy, critics argued that it oversimplified gender struggles.

The full episode of Jayammu Nishchayammu Ra will premiere on Zee5 tomorrow, coinciding with the release of Rashmika’s upcoming film The Girlfriend. Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film also stars Deekshith Shetty and Anu Emmanuel in key roles.
