Rockstar brings Red Dead Redemption to mobile for the first time
Rockstar Games has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption and its expansion Undead Nightmare will be available on December 2, 2025, across Netflix and modern gaming platforms. The rollout marks the first time the series will be playable on phones, with Netflix allowing users to access the games on both Android and iPhone.
Touch-screen controls have been added for mobile players, while Netflix subscribers will be able to download and play at no additional charge as long as their membership remains active.
Enhanced features for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and free upgrades
According to Rockstar’s announcement, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions will run at 60 frames per second and include support for DLSS, HDR, and mouse controls where applicable. Players who already own the PS4, Nintendo Switch, or backward-compatible Xbox One versions will receive the updated edition for free.
PlayStation users will also have another advantage: the game will be included with PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Deluxe, making it accessible at no extra cost for those tiers.
Why Rockstar is making the move now
The update comes shortly after Rockstar confirmed a delay for GTA 6, generating renewed interest in the studio’s release strategy. Bringing Red Dead Redemption to phones and expanding its reach across platforms positions the franchise for a wider audience and fuels speculation about a possible third installment.
With the title becoming easily accessible across devices and subscription services, Rockstar appears to be strengthening the franchise’s presence ahead of a busy 2026 gaming calendar.
