George Veikoso, the Fijian-born reggae artist known professionally as Fiji, has died at the age of 55.

His death was confirmed on 23 July 2025 by sources close to the family. The cause of death has not been disclosed.


Widely regarded in the Polynesian music scene, Fiji earned a Grammy nomination for his work on the collaboration album Island Warriors. He also received multiple accolades at the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards in 1998, winning both Male Vocalist of the Year and Favourite Entertainer of the Year.

Fiji’s contributions to island reggae and his influence on Hawaiian musical culture have left a significant legacy in the Pacific music community.
