Selena Gomez recently shared a candid and heartwarming moment from her relationship with fiancé Benny Blanco, recalling their “embarrassing” first kiss during their second date. Appearing together on the latest episode of the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware, released on Wednesday (30), the couple gave fans an inside look into the sweet start of their romance.
Now 32, Gomez revealed that her first kiss with Blanco, 37, wasn’t just memorable—it left her blushing in more ways than one. “We were hanging on our second date, sitting in the living room, on the couch playing ‘We’re Not Really Strangers,’” Blanco shared. During the game, one prompt instructed them to take a selfie together. Gomez leaned onto Blanco’s chest for the photo, and that’s when the moment struck him. “I looked at her and said, ‘I got to kiss this girl.’ And I kissed her right away.”

When asked if it was a good kiss, Gomez smiled and confirmed, “It was a very good kiss.” But things quickly took an unexpected turn. “Right away, her heart started beating quickly, she started getting a rash on her face and she was so nervous,” Blanco added. It was clearly more than just a kiss—it was the beginning of something special.
Gomez admitted that her reaction came from feeling something deeper. “I hadn’t liked anyone in a very long time, so some kisses are for fun, and then when you feel something behind the kiss, it’s completely different,” she explained. Having been single for five years—aside from a few disappointing dates—she was caught off guard by her emotions. “I was a little embarrassed, but he asked, ‘Are you okay?’ And I just said, ‘No, no, I’m fine.’ I didn’t want to be like, ‘I like you, I really like you.’”
Despite her initial embarrassment, the connection between them only grew stronger. “Even though it happened again, everything just felt so natural from that moment on,” Blanco said, reflecting on how their bond deepened over time.
The couple officially confirmed their relationship in December 2023 and announced their engagement a year later in December 2024. Gomez shared her joy with fans on Instagram, posting a photo of her diamond ring alongside the caption, “Forever begins now.”
The two initially met in 2013 through Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey. Years later, they collaborated on Gomez’s 2015 album Revival, with Blanco co-producing tracks like “Kill Em With Kindness” and “Same Old Love.” Over a decade later, that professional relationship blossomed into love.
Whether celebrating Passover together or singing karaoke to their song “Bluest Flame,” the couple continues to charm fans with their sweet, goofy, and genuine connection—starting with a kiss that Gomez will never forget.
