Ace Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan has found himself bagging the top spot in the 2023 TIME100 poll, which is decided by readers who voted for individuals/groups they think deserve a place on the renowned publication’s annual list of the most influential people. Khan beat the likes of celebrated couple Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and footballer Lionel Messi.

As per the magazine, 1.2 million votes were polled and four per cent of them went to Khan whose latest film ‘Pathaan’ has set become the highest-grossing Hindi film ever.

The second spot went to Iran’s women who have been protesting for their rights. They got three per cent of the votes. They won the magazine’s 2022 Person of the Year reader poll.

In the third spot were healthcare workers who have been at the frontline of the Coivid-19 pandemic since 2020. Two per cent of votes went to them.

Harry and Markle were at the fourth spot with each getting 1.9 per cent of the votes. The former stormed the headlines around the world in January with his memoir ‘Spare’ in which he opened up about his experience as a member of the British royal family.

Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, who led his country to world cup crown in Qatar in December, was in fifth place with 1.8 per cent of the votes.

TIME’s annual list of the most influential people for 2023 is set to be released later in April.

In 2022, billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani, lawyer Karuna Nundy and human rights activist from Kashmir Khurram Parvez were the only Indians featured on the list.
