In a horrific crime against the Indian diaspora, a Sikh couple was murdered by an identified man in Manila, capital of the Southeastern nation of the Philippines, on Saturday (25).

India Today cited media reports saying the duo, Sukhwinder Singh, 41, and Kirandeep Kaur, 33, were found dead with bullet wounds in their residence. Both hailed from Goraya in Jalandhar district of the northern Indian state of Punjab.

CCTV footage showed the unidentified killer entering the couple’s house soon after Singh returned from work in the night. The assailant could be seen firing multiple times at Sukhwinder and twice at his wife, killing both on the spot.

Sukhwinder had been living in the Philippines for almost two decades and ran a finance business there. He got married to Kirandeep three years ago and the later shifted to Manila a few months ago.

Sukhwinder’s elder brother Lakhvir Singh told reporters that they did not get any response from the latter despite making repeated calls on Sunday (26). He then asked his uncle, who also stays in Manila, to check and he found the couple lying dead in a pool of blood at their residence.
