Platinum-selling artist linked to car where body found
Platinum-selling singer D4vd is cooperating with authorities after a decomposed woman’s body was discovered inside a Tesla registered in his name. The vehicle, impounded from the Bird Streets neighbourhood of the Hollywood Hills, was found at a Hollywood tow yard after staff reported a foul odour.
Victim details released by coroner
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the victim was female with wavy black hair and a distinctive tattoo on her right index finger reading “Shhh…”. She was wearing a tube top, black leggings, yellow stud earrings and a chain bracelet. Officials said her body was “severely decomposed” and her age and ethnicity remain undetermined.
Sources reported the remains — a head and torso — were contained in a bag. Investigators are treating the discovery as a death investigation.
Police and artist response
Police said the car had been abandoned for at least five days before being towed. Detectives continue to investigate how long the victim was in the vehicle.
D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was performing in Madison, Wisconsin, when the discovery was made. He went ahead with a concert in Minneapolis the following evening. His representatives confirmed he is cooperating with authorities.
Commercial fallout
In the wake of the discovery, Crocs and Hollister suspended their joint “Dream Drop” campaign featuring the artist. The brands said in a joint statement: “With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues.”
