Ceremony halted amid medical emergencies
Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana postponed her wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a health emergency on Sunday, November 23, ahead of the ceremony planned in Sangli. Known for her close relationship with her father, Mandhana decided not to continue with the event until he recovers.
The situation took another unexpected turn on Monday, November 24, when Palash was also taken to a hospital in Sangli following a sudden health issue.
Palash Muchhal treated and discharged
According to information cited by NDTV, Palash was taken to a private hospital after he experienced discomfort caused by a viral infection and increased acidity. The report added that his condition was not serious and that he returned to his hotel after medical treatment.
The development came just 24 hours after the wedding was postponed, adding to the emotional strain already faced by both families.
Health update on Shrinivas Mandhana
Mandhana’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed that her father began feeling unwell on Sunday morning while having breakfast. As his condition failed to improve, the family called an ambulance and rushed him to the hospital.
“He is under observation,” Mishra said, adding that the family was deeply shocked by the sudden events. He stressed that Smriti chose to defer the wedding purely to prioritize her father’s health.
“Smriti is very close to her father, and she wants to wait until he is fine. We hope he recovers quickly because it’s a big moment for everyone,” he stated.
Mishra also appealed for privacy while the family focuses on his recovery.
Doctors monitoring cardiac condition
Mandhana’s family doctor, Dr. Naman Shah, told PTI that Shrinivas experienced left-sided chest pain, medically categorized as angina. Tests revealed elevated cardiac enzymes and high blood pressure, leading the medical team to keep him under close supervision.
“If the situation worsens, angiography may be required. Efforts are underway to stabilize his condition,” Dr. Shah said. He expressed hope that he would show improvement by Tuesday.
A pause to celebrations
The ceremony, which was expected to be an intimate gathering, now stands postponed without a revised date. Supporters and colleagues from the sports and music industries have extended good wishes for health and recovery.
For Mandhana, whose cricket journey has been strongly supported by her father, the postponement reflects a personal choice grounded in family first.
