The makers of Toxic – A Fairytale for Grown-Ups have unveiled the first look of Tara Sutaria in the role of Rebecca, continuing a series of character reveals that have steadily built anticipation for the film’s 2026 theatrical release. The reveal was first reported exclusively by Variety.
The newly released poster introduces Sutaria’s character as emotionally exposed yet quietly formidable. Rebecca is depicted in a state of unraveling, visually suggesting a character shaped by vulnerability while retaining a strong instinct for authority and survival. According to Variety, the portrayal suggests a nuanced emotional depth and internal resilience that play a significant role in the film’s narrative.
Sutaria’s character reveal follows earlier introductions of Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, and Nayanthara as Ganga. Together, the ensemble points to a character-driven story anchored by complex performances.
“Toxic” marks a major milestone in Sutaria’s career, as it is her first pan-India production. She made her film debut in 2019 with Student of the Year 2, earning the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. She later appeared in action-driven films including Marjaavaan, Heropanti 2, and Ek Villain Returns. Critics highlighted her dramatic growth in the 2023 survival thriller Apurva, a performance that expanded perceptions of her range as an actor, Variety noted.
The film is headlined by Yash, who rose to pan-Indian superstardom through the blockbuster K.G.F franchise. His portrayal of Rocky Bhai in K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018) and K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022) helped redefine box-office benchmarks across language markets. The second installment remains one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. Before K.G.F, Yash built a strong reputation in Kannada cinema with performances in films such as Googly and Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari.
Toxic is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, whose previous work has earned recognition on the international festival circuit. In an interview cited by Variety, Mohandas praised Sutaria’s instinctive approach to the role, describing her performance as quietly powerful and emotionally intuitive. Mohandas said Sutaria’s restraint and observational nature ultimately resulted in what she called a “breathtaking” performance.
The film is breaking new ground as the first major Indian production conceptualized, written, and shot simultaneously in both Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and other languages, according to Variety.
The technical crew includes National Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni, and production designer T.P. Abid. Action sequences are choreographed by Hollywood stunt coordinator J.J. Perry, known for the John Wick franchise, alongside acclaimed Indian action directors Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic – A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is scheduled for theatrical release on March 19, 2026, timed to coincide with the extended holiday weekend of Eid, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa, Variety reported.
