INDIAN prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (18) visited his mother Heeraben Modi at her residence in Gandhinagar, the capital of the western state of Gujarat as she entered her 100th year. Modi spent some quality time with his mother, who lives with the prime minister’s younger brother Pankaj Modi on the outskirts of the state capital.
Modi washed his mother’s feet and sought her blessings but as the pictures of his special moments with his mother went viral on social media, there were reactions. According to many Twitter users, the prime minister was more interested in a publicity stunt than actually celebrating the occasion.
One video went in circulation showing Modi stepping out of his car at his mother’s house after the cameraman and videographer went inside and questions were asked whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was careful to not let any moment he spent with his mother go uncaptured.
Twitter reacted to the video with many mocking the prime minister while there were also others who said it was natural for a son to celebrate his mother’s special birthday.
