In a candid recent interview, Deepika opened up about her emotional and transformative journey into motherhood, highlighting the unwavering support Ranveer provided at every step.
Deepika revealed that the decision to start a family was one rooted in mutual respect and open dialogue. Ranveer, she said, encouraged her to lead the way, emphasizing that it was her body and therefore her decision. “He said, ‘It’s your body. Yes, we’ll make the decision together, but ultimately it’s your body that will experience the change. So whenever you’re ready, that’s when we’ll do it,’” Deepika shared in her conversation with Marie Claire. The couple recently welcomed their daughter, whom they named Dua. The name, Deepika explained, came to her about two months after the baby’s arrival. “We just wanted to hold her, let her explore her new world, and begin to show who she is,” she said. One night, the name ‘Dua’ came to Deepika instinctively, and she texted Ranveer—who was on a film shoot—about it. His response was immediate and heartfelt. “It felt like the perfect reflection of everything she represents to us—our prayer, our gift, our answer,” Deepika explained.
Ranveer, meanwhile, has been in awe of Deepika’s evolution into motherhood. “This is the most beautiful version of Deepika I have ever known,” he told the publication. He described her as gentle, nurturing, and wholly engaged in her role as a mother. “Everything in Deepika’s life now revolves around Dua. Everything else comes secondary, sometimes even her own health,” Ranveer added, reflecting on how she has prioritized their daughter above all.
