Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko’s father dies in Tamil Nadu car accident; actor injured, family hospitalized

Tragedy struck Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko’s family as his father, CP Chacko, lost his life in a car accident near Palacode, Tamil Nadu. The actor and his family members sustained injuries and are currently under medical care.

A tragic road accident claimed the life of CP Chacko, the father of renowned Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko, on the morning of Friday (6). The incident occurred around 7 am near Palacode on the Dharmapuri National Highway in Tamil Nadu, casting a pall of grief over the Malayalam film industry and the actor’s fans.

According to reports from the Palacode police, the accident happened when the car carrying Shine Tom Chacko and his family members rammed into a lorry while they were traveling to Bengaluru. CP Chacko, aged 70, died on the spot due to the impact. The vehicle was also carrying Shine Tom’s mother, Maria Carmel (65), his brother, and their driver.

Shine Tom Chacko sustained a fracture in his right arm and, along with his mother, was immediately admitted to Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital for treatment. Both his brother and the driver also suffered injuries in the crash but are reported to be in stable condition. The family was reportedly en route to Bengaluru when the unfortunate accident took place near Palayur.

CP Chacko had recently been in the news for publicly supporting his son, Shine Tom, amid an ongoing police investigation related to a narcotics case. His sudden demise has left the family and the Malayalam film fraternity in deep shock and mourning.

Shine Tom Chacko, who began his career in the film industry as an assistant director, made his acting debut in 2011 with the critically acclaimed film Gaddama. Over the years, he has established himself as a versatile actor, delivering memorable performances in several Malayalam films such as Annayum Rasoolum, Kammatipaadam, Godha, Parava, Mayanadhi, Operation Java,  and Kuruthi. Known for his intense and realistic portrayals, Shine Tom has become a prominent figure in contemporary Malayalam cinema.

The news of the accident has triggered an outpouring of condolences and prayers from fans, colleagues, and industry insiders. Many have taken to social media to express their grief and support for the actor and his family during this difficult time. The Malayalam film industry, which has seen Shine Tom Chacko rise to prominence over the past decade, stands in solidarity with the grieving family.

As the family recovers from their injuries, arrangements for the final rites of CP Chacko are expected to be announced soon.
