Indian rapper and singer Badshah, known for his chart-topping hits and recent dramatic weight loss, has landed in hot water after a controversial remark about global pop star Dua Lipa.
The controversy erupted after Badshah responded to a fan’s question on X (formerly Twitter) about a possible collaboration with the English-Albanian singer by saying, “I’d rather make babies with her, bro.” The comment quickly went viral, sparking a wave of criticism and debate across social media platforms.

While some fans found Badshah’s comment humorous and praised his confidence, a significant section of the internet called it inappropriate and disrespectful. Social media users didn’t hold back, with one Redditor quipping, “Badshah sir, ye kaisi Dua?” and another asking, “WHAT’S WITH THIS ‘HAVE BABIES’ JOKE? How can you say that and not be so disgusted with yourself you want to bathe!”
Outrage grew as more users chimed in, calling Badshah “creepy” and comparing him to “Indian Kanye West,” a nod to the American rapper’s history of controversial remarks.
Comments like “EWWWWW, what a creep. Women really can’t catch a break online or in real life,” and “This is too much,” echoed the sentiment that public figures should be more mindful of their words, especially in the age of social media where such remarks can quickly snowball into major controversies.
Despite the backlash, some of Badshah’s fans tried to downplay the incident, making light of the comment and focusing instead on his recent physical transformation. Badshah has been in the news for his significant weight loss, which he attributed to health concerns and the demands of performing live.
“I had many reasons for losing weight. We did no shows during the lockdown, and when live performances resumed, I realized I didn’t have the stamina. My work requires me to be active for 120 minutes or so when performing on stage. I started panting in just 15 minutes. As a performer, I have to give my best. That was a major reason,” he shared in a previous interview.

As the controversy simmers, Badshah is preparing for his upcoming “The Un-Finished Tour” in the United States. The tour will kick off in Virginia on September 5 and include stops in New Jersey, the Bay Area, Seattle, and Dallas, before concluding at Now Arena in Chicago on September 20.
While Badshah is no stranger to making headlines—be it for his music, style, or personal journey—this latest incident serves as a reminder of the scrutiny public figures face and the importance of responsible communication in the digital age
