WITH the T20 World Cup less than a month away, Indian fans were eagerly waiting for the release of their favourite team’s kit for the marquee tournament and Adidas, the official kit partner of the national team, did not disappoint them.

On Monday (6), the sportswear giant unveiled the jersey that the team would sport during the upcoming tournament in the West Indies and the United States in a unique style. In a video that was shared by Adidas on social media, a helicopter bearing logos of Adidas and the Indian cricket board was seen flying over the picturesque HPCA cricket stadium in Dharamsala holding underneath a giant blue-orange jersey, surprising three top India players who were present on the ground at the time.

They were captain Rohit Sharma, ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav and spinner-all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

The shoulders of the jersey are orange while the remaining part is blue, India’s white-ball jersey colour. Two stripes of orange also run towards the waist. The jersey also has three trademark stripes of Adidas in white. The collar has a tri-coloured stripe.

In the post on X featuring the video of the flying jersey, Adidas said, “One jersey. One Nation. Presenting the new Team India T20 jersey.”

While it did not say whether the same jersey would be worn by the Indian team during the T20 World Cup beginning June 1, the fan club of Indian Premier League’s Mumbai Indians franchise said in a post that it indeed is the Indian team’s jersey for the World Cup.

Adidas became India’s official kit partner in May last year and designed the jersey for the World Test Championship and the 50-over World Cup last year, both tournaments that India lost in the final against Australia. The jersey for the white-ball tournament was particularly a hit among the fans as its sales went up ahead of the tournament at home.

The latest jersey will be available at the stores from Tuesday (7), Adidas said in its tweet.

India will play their first match in the World Cup against Ireland in New York on June 5.
