Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has added fuel to the excitement surrounding Ba**ds of Bollywood*, the highly anticipated Netflix debut from Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. At the WAVES Summit 2025, Sarandos shared his thoughts on the show, praising it for its originality and entertainment value.

Aryan Khan, who is stepping into the world of filmmaking as a director, is making headlines for his much-awaited series Ba**ds of Bollywood*, which he co-created with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. The show also features writing contributions from all three creators.

At the summit, Sarandos was engaged in a lively conversation with actor Saif Ali Khan, who asked him if there was any upcoming Netflix series he was particularly excited about. Without hesitation, Sarandos mentioned Aryan Khan’s show.

“We have a show called Ba**ds of Bollywood* coming up. That is really fun,” Sarandos said. “I’m gonna leave the audience to try to figure out the title completely. But it is so fun, I have got four episodes in, you’ll be getting it soon too.”

Sarandos’ enthusiastic comment has added further momentum to the already buzzing anticipation for Aryan’s directorial debut.

Earlier this year, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar also publicly backed Aryan Khan, hinting at the young director’s promising future in the industry. Speaking on the Figuring Out podcast with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, Johar stated, “I don’t know if I’m even supposed to say this, but I have huge belief in Aryan Khan’s directorial talent. I don’t want to say anything about his Netflix show, because he’ll get very angry, but all I’ll say is this: watch out. If there is a King, there will be a Prince. I can say this with confidence because I’ve seen the show. He has an individualistic voice as a director.”

Johar further elaborated on Aryan’s work ethic and creative identity, emphasizing how he has built his own path separate from the colossal shadow of his father Shah Rukh Khan. “He’s not anything like you’d expect Shah Rukh Khan’s son to be. He’s his own person. He works quietly, he doesn’t carry the baggage of his father, he doesn’t carry the weight of his legacy. He works hard; he works 20 hours a day. He is a rare personality type,” Johar added.

The series stars Lakshya—known for his breakout performance in Kill—and Sahher Bambba in the lead roles. While the central cast features fresh faces, Ba**ds of Bollywood* also boasts cameo appearances from some of the industry’s biggest names. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh are all expected to make special appearances, adding a touch of star power to the ensemble-driven series.

In addition to the star-studded cameos, Bobby Deol and Mona Singh will play pivotal roles, with Karan Johar himself appearing in an extended cameo. The series is produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner, further cementing the project’s high-profile backing and production quality.

With Aryan Khan taking charge behind the camera and receiving early praise from industry veterans and Netflix’s top leadership, Ba**ds of Bollywood* is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Indian web series of 2025. The combination of gritty storytelling, youthful perspective, and insider access to Bollywood’s biggest names is already generating immense interest across global markets.
