Indian rapper Badshah has sparked major controversy on social media after making a bold remark about global pop star Dua Lipa. What began as an innocent-sounding post quickly escalated into backlash, leading the artist to issue a clarification.

It all started when Badshah tweeted Dua Lipa’s name followed by a red heart emoji, prompting fans to speculate about a possible music collaboration. When a follower asked, “Are you making a track with her bro?”, Badshah replied, “I’d rather make babies with her bro.” The tweet, which was later deleted, went viral and drew widespread criticism.

Badshah Responds: “It Was a Compliment”

As the outrage grew, Badshah responded with a statement explaining his intent. “I think one of the most beautiful compliments that you could give to a woman that you really admire is to wish for her to mother your children,” he wrote. “Meri soch nahi tumhari soch saamne aayi hai,” he added, implying that people’s negative interpretations reflected their own mindset.

Social Media Users Unconvinced

However, the clarification failed to quell the criticism. Social media users accused the rapper of objectifying Dua Lipa and cloaking inappropriate remarks under the guise of admiration. “Since when did ‘rather make babies’ start translating into ‘I want her to be the mother of my kids’???” questioned one user. Another added, “Would you call it a compliment if someone said the same thing about your daughter or sister?”

Criticism: “This Is Entitlement, Not Admiration”

Critics argued that reducing a successful woman to a fantasy of motherhood was neither flattering nor respectful. “This is entitlement, not admiration,” one user remarked. Many emphasized the importance of respectful language when referring to women, especially public figures with a global platform.
