Bella Hadid hospitalized amid Lyme disease struggle
Bella Hadid has been hospitalized as part of her ongoing battle with Lyme disease. The model, 28, shared photos on Instagram showing her in a hospital bed connected to an IV. While she did not provide details about her condition, her mother Yolanda Hadid confirmed that the hospitalization was related to her long-term illness.
Yolanda Hadid’s emotional message
Yolanda Hadid, 61, who also has Lyme disease, posted a slideshow on Instagram featuring images of Bella receiving treatment and heartfelt mother-daughter moments. She praised Bella’s strength, calling her a “fighter,” “survivor,” and “badass warrior.”
“Watching my Bella struggle in silence cuts the deepest core of hopelessness inside me,” Yolanda wrote. She added that after 15 years of seeking treatments, she remains determined to find an affordable cure.
A family battle with Lyme
Bella, Yolanda, and her younger brother Anwar were diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2013. Bella has spoken publicly about how the illness disrupted her life, including her ability to horseback ride and cope with exhaustion and pain.
In 2023, she revealed she had found a treatment that gave her hope of feeling healthy for the first time in years.
About Lyme disease
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and transmitted through tick bites. Early symptoms can include fever, fatigue, and rash, while untreated cases can lead to arthritis, neurological issues, and heart complications.
Though most patients recover with antibiotics, some continue to experience chronic symptoms — a diagnosis that remains debated in the medical community.
Several celebrities, including Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Shania Twain, and Amy Schumer, have also spoken about their experiences with Lyme disease.
