Career highs and lows
Bobby Deol, who made a successful debut with Barsaat in 1995, experienced both peaks and valleys in his Bollywood career. Following hits like Soldier, Badal, Bichoo, and Ajnabee, the actor went through a period of underperforming films, which affected both his work opportunities and social interactions in the industry.
On Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Deol reflected on that time: “The number of invitations I got for parties started to decrease. It’s not like I would go to a lot of parties anyway. The same people who would be so warm with me when I was at the top started ignoring me. But that’s what they say; people are with you as long as you have something to offer.”
Handling changing attitudes
Deol emphasized that he does not hold grudges against those who distanced themselves during his low phase. “It happened, and it happens in every industry, not just mine. But I don’t hold grudges. The same people come to me now with offers, but I don’t hold anything against them,” he added.
The comeback
Bobby Deol’s career resurgence began with Prakash Jha’s web series Aashram, followed by a strong antagonist role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (2023). Most recently, he appeared in Aryan Khan’s The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, further solidifying his renewed presence in the industry.
The actor describes this period as a second wind in his career, highlighting that persistence and timing played key roles in regaining both work and recognition.
