POLICE of various Indian cities have a knack of coming up with witty takes on India cricketers whenever something eventful happens in international cricket.

On Sunday (17), it was for the cops in Delhi to do the same.

As pacer Mohammed Siraj bowled a terrific spell in the final of Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka who were bundled out for just 50 in their own backyard, the social media team of Delhi Police joined the fans’ party over the fast bowler’s epic blast with six wickets for 21 runs and made a post on X saying there are “no speed challans for Siraj today”.

The cops in the capital wanted to convey that the 29-year-old pacer’s speed wouldn’t wane on Sunday.

Siraj claimed his first five scalps in just 16 balls, becoming the fastest in the history of one-day internationals (ODI) to achieve the feat. Four of his wickets came in one over, the third of the match.

The post garnered massive response on social media with 1.7 million views; over 50,000 likes and nearly 6,000 reposts.

Siraj dismantled the Sri Lankan batting line-up after his opening bowling partner Jasprit Bumrah took the first wicket in the form of opener Kushal Perera while the third Indian seamer, Hardik Pandya, finished things off with three wickets. The islanders were all out inside 16 overs and India concluded the game in just over six overs, making the match one of the shortest finals to be played in men’s ODIs in history.

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first.
