Dhruv Rathee sparks debate over SRK’s endorsements

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has triggered an online discussion after questioning Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s decision to endorse paan masala brands despite his reported billion-dollar wealth.

In a recent video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rathee referred to reports estimating the Jawan actor’s net worth at $1.4 billion (around ₹12,400 crore), placing him among the world’s richest entertainers.

“Isn’t this much money enough?”

Rathee questioned the necessity of such endorsements, asking, “Shah Rukh Khan has now become a billionaire... Do you know how much that is? It’s hard to even imagine.”

He then challenged the actor’s choice to promote a product with potential health risks, saying, “My question to Shah Rukh Khan is: Isn’t this much money enough? If it is, then what compels you to still promote something as harmful as paan masala?”

Urges reflection on social impact

Rathee cited reports suggesting that Khan was paid between $12 million and $24 million for the endorsement. He urged the actor to reflect on the larger consequences of his influence. “Do you actually need this extra $12 million - $24 million? Think about the impact it could have if the country’s top actor stopped promoting harmful products,” he said.

The YouTuber encouraged viewers to spread the message so that it might reach Shah Rukh Khan directly, framing his comments as a call for socially responsible celebrity behavior.

What’s next for Shah Rukh Khan
