Diljit Dosanjh continues to dominate global headlines in 2025. After taking over the music world with his “Dil-Luminati” world tour and his viral appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Punjabi actor-singer made a memorable debut at the Met Gala. But what truly set the stage ablaze was his crowning as the Best Dressed celebrity at Met Gala 2025, according to a Vogue readers’ poll.
“Diljit Dosanjh stole the Number 1 position beating 306 contestants,” reported Vogue. Among 307 standout fashion statements, Diljit topped the list for his striking look that paid homage to his Punjabi heritage. Wearing an Atelier Prabal Gurung cream matelassé tailored jacket with hand embroidered rose gold floral crystal embroidery, paired with a leopard print silk shirt and black leather pants, he carried his trademark swag with layered jewelry and signature glasses.

But the star element of his outfit was the jewel-studded turban, emerald-centred necklace, and a lion-headed kirpan, channeling regal energy inspired by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. His look also included a Cartier watch and a statement neckpiece based on the historical Patiala Necklace by Cartier. In total, the ensemble was a tribute to legacy, culture, and craftsmanship.
“His cape had the map of Punjab with Gurumukhi (script of Punjabi language) alphabets embroidered through it. The map and alphabets were hand-embroidered with gold threads.” The piece was a four-day effort by 50 artisans, showcasing the richness of Indian heritage on a global red carpet.
Trailing him in the Best Dressed list were S Coups in Boss, Zendaya in Louis Vuitton, Rihanna in Marc Jacobs, and Shakira in another Prabal Gurung creation. Surprisingly, Bollywood powerhouses Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, both of whom also attended the gala, didn’t make it to the top.
Even fellow debutant Kiara Advani, who is currently expecting, failed to enter the rankings despite her graceful appearance.
Diljit’s Met Gala win not only cements his global pop culture status but also brings Punjabi pride to the heart of high fashion.
